Held Ground

A school breaks apart. A barracuda tears through, fast and pale against the dark. And at the edge of it, watching, a seahorse holds its ground — not fleeing with the scattering mass, not caught in the violence either. Just present, tail curled, still.
Painted in glow and shadow rather than hard edge — gold and orange bleeding into deep blue-black water, the chaos only half-resolved the way disturbed water actually looks when something violent moves through it. The seahorse doesn't dominate this canvas the way a hunter or a herd might. It survives it, quietly, by being exactly what it is and nowhere else.
